The national Real Food Challenge invites all residents of Amherst and surrounding towns to join us for a “real food town meeting” to discuss our local and regional food system on:

Amherst Town Hall; Town Room
the Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts has signed the Real Food Commitment, pledging UMass to purchase at least 20% “real food” by 2020. Real Food is defined according to strict criteria – but the big picture is that real food nourishes consumers, producers, communities and the earth.
As part of this commitment, UMass has pledged to broaden the conversation about real food to include the larger community. You are invited to participate in a “real food town meeting” in the Amherst Town Hall to share your ideas on how to create a more just and sustainable food system in the Pioneer Valley. If you have questions or comments, please send them to realfood@umass.edu.
